Ill pay for it, I'm sure that when it does come it will definitely be a optional thing, but I think the things they offer for the paid version will make it worthwhile so yes ill pay for it, at the end of the day 40 or 50 per year is nothing and isn't going to hurt me finacially I'm sure.

Hey you scared the troll away good job.  As was mentioned b4, as long as online play is free the rest can be subscription.

It's clear, at least from what I've read, that Sony is going to keep the current PSN features free - i.e. being 'silver' on PSN is going to get you more than being Silver on Live. The PSN level of gold I think will be to cover cross-game chat plus additional content/features access.

So, if you're using PSN today I doubt anything's going to change unless you chose to pay for the extra stuff.

People apparently don't realize the operating costs of a network as large and dynamic as PSN. Sony is already hemorraging cash with every PS3 sold, and their losses for this gen are in the billions of dollars, yet people that claim to be Sony "fans" are now crying about a reasonable fee for an online service?

Guess what, you won't get to be a Sony fanboy anymore if the company goes bankrupt or opts out of the video game industry because it is no longer profitable.

Count your blessings that Sony has been taking on a financial burden that should have been yours from day 1 for so long now, you ungrateful ingrates.

As long as I can play online for free, then they can charge for everything else.

the set up for XBOXLIVE and how the server's are set up is not the same as the server's for PSN are set up.

ever wonder how online game play for PC is free and not xboxlive?

guess which service network is built like the PC online game network...and it's not xboxlive.

just because ONLINE PLAY is charged for XBOXLIVE does not mean that PSN will also charge for online Play!

there is other way's to cover cost's without having to charge for online play. Hell even microsoft offer's silver online gaming for free every now and then:

just because Sony offer's online game play for free does not mean they will have to charge for it., Now it does not mean they will not also , but more an more this seem's less likely because already they have income from other services on PSN:

full movie download's,now from every major studio

downloadedable game's

PSN home purchases

Ad income

Why does anyone think that Sony would come out with a Subscription plan.... when their big brother nintendo hasn't. Sony is attacking Wii now they arn't going to worry about the already boring topic of Xbox live. If Sony wanted to bring a subscription plan they could but watch NOBODY would buy it because nobody want's to pay for extras, So what profit is their to be had? I mean if Xbox users had a choice to pay for online you think they really would? Lol-lol Microsoft knows this that's why they will always have the fee for online. Trust me Xbox's profits would fall like 90% which would be the last thing they want, Plus their server prices would go up because more people would be playing Xbox Live.
