Forums - PC Discussion - What computer brand do you think is best/worse?

That being said, Windows 7 still has plenty of nagging issues that are virtually non-existent on Apples.

Quick example: after buying Adobe's Production Premium CS4 bundle, I was surprised to find that most of the apps wouldn't even boot up after a standard install. After installing all updates for each individual app, After Effects finally works.

Photoshop does not. Premiere Pro does not. Soundbooth does not.

Yes windows 7 does have issues with older programs that do not use it's new file directory structure.

But let's put it this way. Do all pre-MAC OSX apps work on MAC OSX?Other hardware based example: installed new motherboard, CPU and memory and Windows 7 boot manager disappears. Problem can't be fixed unless you use the OS disk installer, but... the factory settings on the motherboard have the USB ports for the mouse and keyboard shut OFF unless manually turned on in the BIOS meaning until you do this step, you can't "type any key" to get Windows to boot of the disc.

Annoying little things.

All I can say from personal experience is that I never had any issues like this on any Mac I've ever bought or used. Yes the hardware costs more, but it works consistently and reliably. If you don't want to spend a lot of time playing IT, they're worth it.

This one can be explained very simply. When you install windows, it installs for your current hardware configuration. It installs driver for you motherboard chipsets and code with nstructions that your CPU can handle as well drivers to allow your system to access all the RAM you have.

When you install all that new hardware, windows does not know you have new hardware when it boots up. So it loads all the system drivers for the hardware it had installed when it last booted up. It would be like moving your HDD from your MAC running on the old IBM PowerPC chips and putting into a new MAC with the Intel chips and expecting it to work flawlessly.

The difference is that on your MAC, the restrict the hardware that it runs on so only verfied motherboards work with it. PC does not have this. It is a simple rule for PC, if you replace your motherboard with another that has a different chipset and hardware configuration, you will need to re-install. MAC has this exact same rule. Except macs only run on 1 motherboard per platform so they don't have to worry about a re-install.

Mac is just Linux with a pretty GUI built on top of it.

best: VAIO

worst: HP/Compaq

Best - Asus

Worst - Apple

I can only speak for components, because the last time i bought a full PC was 2000.

Best Components= ASUS (because its awesome), AMD (great performance for the right price), Nvidia (nice graphic cards), Corsair (one of the best Ram producers)

Worst Components = MSI (my last MB crashed completely), Intel (wtf is up with the price?), ATI (so much problems with my last card)

For Laptops:

Best: Asus Rog, Sony Vaio

Worst: Macbook (it was very fast finished and i HATE the OS, back to W7 and Linux)

Sad how so many people buy into Apple's marketing. You'd think people would be smarter than take it up the rear from a company whose entire strategy revolves around total monopolization and limiting what you can do with their products to their own profit.

Best=HP

Worst= eMachine

old eMachine I will agree with, since they were bought by Acer, they have vastly improved in quality. They are still the secondary crap brand, like compact is to HP, but they are still far better then Dell.

Best: Dell
Worst: Dell

The reason for the above is that Alienware is owned by Dell, hence they are the best, but their actual "Dell" brand has started to suck in the past couple years. (I still love my XPS though)

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

Lots of people already said this, but:
Best: Apple
Worst: Dell

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

I won't even consider Apple as a quality computer. Why pay over a grand to do basic functions?

As a technician I like any computer that uses standard hardware.

With that said, I generally hate Dell.

Aside from the listed BEST/WORST options, building your own will always give you better performance, better quality and a better price if you do you research.

Apple computers are just for users who do not know how to use a PC correctly

Desktop Performance PC:
Best: Falcon Northwest (for build quality and performance)
Worst: Alienware (build quality went to crap and price went way up)

Desktop Average user PC:
Best: Asus (quality parts, nothing proprietary)
Worst: Dell (proprietary motherboards/power supply combos. Bargain basement parts across the board)

Desktop Business use:
Best: Dell (cheap and outstanding warranty)
Worst: HP (crap warranty, more expensive and horrible quality)

Laptops Performance:
Best: Dell XPS (quality parts, great warranty and rugged)
Worst: Alienware (overpriced, decent parts and not as rugged)

Laptops average user:
Best: Dell (outstanding warranty and good price)
Worst: Acer (horrible warranty, bad build quality, tons of driver issues)

Laptops Business use:
Best: IBM Lenovo (built like a tank, virtually no driver issues, great warranty)
Worst: Acer (horrible warranty, bad build quality, tons of driver issues)

HTPC:

Best: Shuttle (quality parts, great cases)

Worst: Sony (crappy parts, worthless features, horrible cases)

excuse me

i have used a PC all my life up untill a year ago. i brought a MAC and i can tell you now...its ALOT better then any PC i have ever owned

yes it doesnt support all software but it supports what NEEDS to be supported

i dunno...i guess i like having a smooth interface and a no hastle no worry time on the internet...god i wish i could have my PC back and get virus after virus and have a slow clunky interface! DAM IM SOOO UNLUCKY

As I say to most of my customers. Stay off Limewire and you'll have less problems.
