On-topic: I don't see why they wouldn't do so. They have made their money back on Halo 3 already (even with the huge marketing costs), so they might as well give an excuse for current Halo 3 players to convince their friends to get a 360 and play with them.

2 Wiis? That's like 4 GameCubes plus the duct tape!

I wonder how fast they will expedite the copies of Halo3. Yes I know it says by January 18th... but I wonder if they will try to get as many of those as they can out by Christmas.

I have the money to pull the trigger... this may seal the deal for me. I was hoping for one more price drop, but I WOULD be buying both Forza 2 and Halo3 if I were buy the unit a year from now.

Microsoft is a crazy company. But even though the amount of software they're giving away is unorthodox, this isn't exactly a dumb move.

Two games that had easily covered their development and one which had stopped selling. Cost to MS to produce and ship all 3 games? Maybe $10 or $12. Value to consumers? Over $100.

Or, a $50 price cut. Cost to MS? $50. Value to consumers? $50.

360 still has to find those customers, though. Are people uninterested in Forza and Halo going to buy a 360 for them? No. The other side of the coin is being careful not to damage those great third party game sales.



And oh yeah... Major win for the >1.5M of you who were going to buy a 360 this holiday anyways!
