I dont purchase a consoled based on one franchise.

Me too, I remember all of my misplaced xbox hate during the PS2 years, now things are a bit different lol.

My hate for the original Xbox got shifted into the Wii.

I owned PS2+Gamecube last gen and hated the Xbox.

This gen I own all three, but hate the Wii.

I take it you didn't like console gaming before the PS1? The Wii resembles the older consoles (focus on fun) much more so than the HD consoles.

Of those listed in the OP, definitely Gears of War. I do like Halo as well, due to the awesome local multiplayer, though I'd need more to push the console into buy status. Overall, the sum all of the Japanese games (Mistwalker, Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean, etc) on top of other gems like Castle Crashers (pure awesome) had more pull than Gears alone did.
