Well I was a drop out, had no girl, broke, and had no real desire to live.

I think you're doing fine.

17 was fine, pretty boring actually

Actually a bit on topic. At 21 you're an adult, at 19 you're a teenager. What the hell are you at 20?

Well 18 is considered an adult. They just aren't allowed to drink booze yet.

hummm 17, yeah that year sucked for me. I skipped graduation, moved out of my patents house and did a few really shitty jobs to make money, which quickly turned around and spent on beer, rum, beer ,vodka and more beer. That being said I don't regret it, I had a lot of growing up to do, and being on a work site with a hangover is a REALLY good place to learn some hard truths.

My best advice is do what feels right to you and live the hell out of your life. Your not getting graded, this shit is pretty much pass/fail, and unless you end up in a 6X6X3 hole you will always have another chance to do better tommorow.

Thanks, things are fine. I lead a pretty normal life.

I understand the things you're dealing with can be stressful. My advice is just worry about school. Everything else is trivial.

I couldn't wait. I didn't just move out, I moved out to another country's university even (though the US is big, so just moving to another state works). Went home for Christmas and a few days during the summer. It's great living away from home at that age, even if you can't afford all the stuff, it's fun and if on campus you're always surrounded by other students instead of living in some boring neighbourhood.

Leave GF if not doing so would force you not to go to the college you picked. As for the college itself, well, read around about the various ones, how good they are in the field you are interested in, whether you like where they are, and whether you can actually get into them (and the price, even if you're on a grant, paying those back later on isn't much fun).

P.S. Allow your parents to pay for stuff partly, if they can. It's good to have a part-time job so that you are not always expected to report on what you spend. But going to college also involves going to class and not being too tired to learn anything.
P.P.S. It's a great age to be actually! And so is live in college.

I went to University to delay making decisions another 4 years. Had a blast. Not sure the education made much difference vs what I actually did afterwards, but it meant I didn't have to make any big decisions until later.

I'd say just relax and don't make any decisions you don't want to. Try and look for what appeals and if you don't feel like making commitments then don't.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
