The problem is that we can't compare this situation to what we saw in this thread. Nuts & Bolts has nothing to do with the old games.

You said "and every Mario game sucks compared to Super Mario World" and that's not a good comparison. guiduc probably said that Nuts & Bolts sucks compared to the n64 games because it doesn't have what made the series popular and every mario (3D or 2D) has some elements from other mario games (respecting the fanbase) and it's always bringing what made the series popular (even if it's just enemies, moves, power ups and other small elements), Nuts & Bolts simply has nothing to make the fans of the first games happy because there is nothing to make you remember of the first games (except for the characters and the frustration that will make you think "oh god, I wanted to play a true sequel or at least something similar to Banjo Kazooie/Banjo Tooie"). I am not saying it's a bad game but there is nothing to satisfy fans who wanted something similar to the first games (and you can't say the same thing about Mario).

Well a game like Mario 64 doesn't exactly have what made the classic Mario games popular. In fact, there are plenty of Mario games that don't "have what made the series popular." But they tried something different and a lot of people liked it. But that hardly means every long time Mario fan enjoyed it.

With that same token Banjo N&B tried something new and it received generally favorable reviews with fair sales. Maybe the next Banjo will be the true successor fans want, but this was a good game nevertheless. And its not the first time we've seen a franchise be used for something different.

Too bad microsoft own them now for like 8 years LOL u wana play banjo your going have to get a xbox

Nuts and Bolts sucks compared to the N64 games. These are classics.

And every Mario game sucks compared to Super Mario World.

But hey, an inferior game can still be fun.

You will find a huge ammount of quality in every 2D Mario game (even if Mario World is the best in your opinion) but you can't say the same thing about Nuts and Bolts.

The problem is that Nuts and Bolts isn't like the old games (objectives, gameplay etc) it's more like a bunch of minigames in one package and all the 2D mario games has a similar gameplay and objectives. Your comparison isn't that good.

Why compare Nuts and Bolts to previous game? Take it for what it is, an entertaining and unique platformer that was sold at a reduced price.

I'm not saying the Mario games have been bad or poor quality, but they aren't the best games in the franchise. I never met anyone that didn't like Super Mario World, but I know plenty of people that dislike or hate the 3D Mario games.

Why people compare the new DK games to the Donkey Kong Country series? Because the old series had a lot of special things, that's why people want the old Banjo and not the new one. People want what made the series popular in the first place.

Well there has only been one Banjo game since the N64 releases. And its not a shovelware gimmick title, its an enjoyable platformer.

DK on the other hand has only been used in gimmick titles. DK racing, Donkey Konga, Jungle Beat, Barrel Blast, crappy DS and GBA titles, etc. It would be nice to see them make a DK game that's actually an adventure game.

It would be nice to sse them make a Banjo game that's actually an adventure game with a true objective and not a casual mini game collection with no true objective where you can build your vehicle (vehicle? Seriously? Now Kazooie is useless...)

Well he does have objectives. That are done through mini games.

Anyhow its a unique platformer. And I prefer N&B over the gimmick titles we've seen DK in.

Mario 64 has some elements that made the mario games popular (some enemies like Bowser and Goomba, save the princess, some moves, small elements like coins, power ups etc).

The problem is that Rare actually tried to make another platform game and not a racing game or something different from a platform game, so there will be comparisons, since it's a platform game just like Banjo Kazooie.

I am talking about an objective like save Banjo's sister, something to complement or form a storyline. Nuts and Bolts is just a casual game where you build vehicles and you complete the game just to complete the game, that's the problem. There is nothing solid to make you finish the game.

N&B isn't unique, you can build vehicles in games like Little Big Planet.

Why were you complaining about it being nothing like what made the series popular?

No no, it's just the same "perspective" and not the same gameplay (look at Kazooie being useless in N&B), moves etc etc. It's a platform game but it has nothing to do with the first games, even a Banjo Kazooie RPG could have the same elements (like Kazooie being able to fly). Same genre =/= same elements.

Okay, both Banjo and LBP are unique. That just means they are something different, not completely original.

Your words:

"DK on the other hand has only been used in gimmick titles. DK racing, Donkey Konga, Jungle Beat, Barrel Blast, crappy DS and GBA titles, etc. It would be nice to see them make a DK game that's actually an adventure game."

And yes, it's compared to DKC a lot of times. As I said before, N&B wouldn't be compared to Banjo Kazooie if it was a racing game but it's a platform game, so people will realize that the old elements of a 3D platform Banjo game are gone.

Right, its a casual game. That's all its supposed to be. Which is why I'm annoyed when everyone compares it to previous Banjo games.

Okay, both Banjo and LBP are unique. That just means they are something different, not completely original.

Why? People will compare it because it's a platform game, if it was a racing game nobody would say "hey, where are the old elements that made me play a 3D platform Banjo game in the first place? Why did they changed so many things?".

Well they changed so many things... because its a different game.

People forget this.
