Nuts and Bolts sucks compared to the N64 games. These are classics.

And every Mario game sucks compared to Super Mario World.

But hey, an inferior game can still be fun.

You will find a huge ammount of quality in every 2D Mario game (even if Mario World is the best in your opinion) but you can't say the same thing about Nuts and Bolts.

The problem is that Nuts and Bolts isn't like the old games (objectives, gameplay etc) it's more like a bunch of minigames in one package and all the 2D mario games has a similar gameplay and objectives. Your comparison isn't that good.

Why compare Nuts and Bolts to previous game? Take it for what it is, an entertaining and unique platformer that was sold at a reduced price.

I'm not saying the Mario games have been bad or poor quality, but they aren't the best games in the franchise. I never met anyone that didn't like Super Mario World, but I know plenty of people that dislike or hate the 3D Mario games.

Honestly I know a lot of people that don't like 3D Mario as much as 2D Mario, but rarely have I ever met someone that dislikes 3D Mario unless they're either trying to troll Mario/Nintendo or just don't like platformers to begin with.  As for which 2D Mario is the best SMB3 > SMW

And I never met a gamer that didn't like SMB3 either.

Why people compare the new DK games to the Donkey Kong Country series? Because the old series had a lot of special things, that's why people want the old Banjo and not the new one. People want what made the series popular in the first place.

This is subjective. I know a lot of people who love the 3D games (Mario 64 and Galaxy) but they hate the 2D games (even SMB3).

Yeah, and I know poeple that believe the Sonic games have never been better.

See, I can make people up too.

Well there has only been one Banjo game since the N64 releases. And its not a shovelware gimmick title, its an enjoyable platformer.

DK on the other hand has only been used in gimmick titles. DK racing, Donkey Konga, Jungle Beat, Barrel Blast, crappy DS and GBA titles, etc. It would be nice to see them make a DK game that's actually an adventure game.

The problem is that we can't compare this situation to what we saw in this thread. Nuts & Bolts has nothing to do with the old games.

You said "and every Mario game sucks compared to Super Mario World" and that's not a good comparison. guiduc probably said that Nuts & Bolts sucks compared to the n64 games because it doesn't have what made the series popular and every mario (3D or 2D) has some elements from other mario games (respecting the fanbase) and it's always bringing what made the series popular (even if it's just enemies, moves, power ups and other small elements), Nuts & Bolts simply has nothing to make the fans of the first games happy because there is nothing to make you remember of the first games (except for the characters and the frustration that will make you think "oh god, I wanted to play a true sequel or at least something similar to Banjo Kazooie/Banjo Tooie"). I am not saying it's a bad game but there is nothing to satisfy fans who wanted something similar to the first games (and you can't say the same thing about Mario).

Yeah, Banjo Kazooie was a really sweet game on N64, not quite as good as DK64 but still a good platformer in its own right. I don't know what the hell Rare was smoking with that "Nuts and Bolts" game.

You know what's funny is as much as a Rare fan as I was back in the day, I never played Banjo Tooie. I really should go download it on XBL Arcade one of these days.

Blasphemy!

You should download it now! It's an incredible game (a little better than the first game in my opinion).
