Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I want to see Banjo back :(

i reckon rare would still suck even if they did return to nintendo.. Nintendo sold rare to Microsoft because they have been lacking very badly

BK and Banjoe Tooie were two of my favorite games. Nuts and Bolts is just pure crap in comparison. But I fear we may never see them on a Nintendo console again. :(

Nintendo never did fully own Rareware, if I recall correctly.

Ah yes... both original Banjo games on the N64 were glorious... Truly amazing games in every way. We'll never see stuff like that again though. Rare aren't the developer they were back then anymore. They're just an average developer now (if that), all the real talent has long since left, with only the name reminding of their past glory. Too bad, they used to be so incredible, on par with Nintendo 1st party teams.

Rare is dead live with it.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Yea same here. I tried to play Nuts and Bolts and desperately tried to like it, but I'm not a miracle worker haha. At least the characters and music made it reminiscent of the old Banjo games but just not fun.

Let's not forget Goldeneye as well, one of the best FPS games ever made.

nintendo owned 49% marketshare which was still alot though in my books, i wonder how much shares microsoft owns? 100% to be there first party developers?

Well all they would need is majority to share, to make all their decisions haha.  But more than likely they own close to or at all of their shares.  That's one of the devs Nintendo completely sold off.  Now for devs like Silicon Knights, who Nintendo split up and kept Retro Studios out of the deal, Nintendo still actually owns a pretty good share in the company, although of course a minority not a majority.

That is correct. They had 49% MS, and Stampers (I think that's their name) had the rest. Microsoft spent over 350 million dollars on them to get 100%, making them a 1st party studio.
