Forums - Gaming Discussion - is 360 price cut even relevant?

This is a serious question, PS3 has been playing catch up for the past 5 months, and really is making a profit, right now they have more momentum then ever before. PS3 is seriously looking like it will take second place.(Let's face it First place is long gone.)

I don't think 360 will be ready for a price cut for at least a few months(June-ish) and by then I'm pretty sure it will be too late, by then the PS3 could easily handle one final price cut and would still have the momentum, my question is, is pulling the price cut card even going to be enough to derail PS3's momentum

Like I said before the PS3 could easily counter price cut and put them back at level ground and still sell more. What will it take(within reason) for the 360 to start outselling PS3 again.

Natal?<----No, they need a trump card that isn't going to completely flop.

And for the record Arc=flop aswell, if I wanted motion control gaming I would of gotten a Wii(with the new Zelda coming out I'm going to get one anyway).

What is 360's trump card?

Do they have one?

2010 Hardware Sales Predictions

Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.

PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.

Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.

Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!

Natal IS their trump card.....until the backlash hits. After that, they still have 3 of the highest selling HD franchises of this gen, so it's not like they are going to be facing any problems.

Going by YOY sales, the PS3 price cut didn't derail the Xbox 360 momentum.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

PS3 has 3D movies and gaming coming(P0RN too! yummy XP) aswell as the Arc, 360 cant seriously be laying on Natal alone? they have to have something, I'm not giving up on them yet.

Well for the record i dont support the "Arc" or "natal" but if Microsoft plans to advertise it new console style and have killer apps to go with it on release day, then they dont really need anything else but honestly i hope they both fail motion controll is Nintendos thing Microsoft has live and Sony has blu ray. Personally i think Microsoft should try something new and different, like Sony's doing with the 3d gaming but thats just my opinion.

Natal to be included with a new 360 purchase. That is a price cut in itself. You get a new product bundled in for no additional cost. Consumers demand constant innovation and new products being introduced to the market all the time. Sony has 3D TVs and the Sony Wand in 2010. Apple has the I-Pad for 2010.

Maybe Arcade 360 could be sold without Natal for $150. Good business sense would be to leave the price unchanged with launch of Natal. Natal will receive a lot of media exposure and a huge marketing campaign to push its sales around the world. 250GB Elite replaces 120GB HDD Elite. The bigger HDDs are cheaper to manufacure than the smaller HDDs.

If Natal does not boost sales when it launches later in the year around September. November would be the time to cut prices ahead of big game releases and Xmas holiday sales period. COD 7 releases mid November and that series sells well and is extremely popular with the American consumers.

come on dude.the ps3 was behind in sales agianst 360. then they cut there price and brought in the slim. so the ps3 will probably sell a steady 20k more units a week until 360 cuts its price. then 360 will outsell the ps3. the ps3 wont cut there price to counter it because they cant for now.(loosing way to much money on ps3) this time next year seams more likly.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

that's doubtful... It will most likely be 40-50k per week until summer.
