I just figured Nintendo consoles out...

They couldn't have made the Wii U in 2006, not in it's size or cost anyway. The same goes with the other examples. If they released the Wii U in 2006 it would have been a large console like the PS3 and the 360, it would have had heat and reliabiliy issues and would have cost too much. Nintendo would have probably gone bankrupt by now, ...

Nintendo may have dropped the price, but Australia is still getting screwed too hard.

It only looks bad because of the strong Aus $, it's not like the prices in local currency are much higher than what they have been in the past. We had the same thing in the UK, something we called ripoff Britain. Now because of the weak GBP we have some of the cheapest prices in Europe....
