Most Rare-like Game Not by Rare?

in Gaming Discussion on 12 July 2018

A hat in time is an Indie, but it was highly praised when it came out, to the point that I've heard people say, 'why play Yooka-Laylee now, when we have an actual good collectathon platformer?' It released very shortly before Mario Odyssey though and got lost in the excitement a little....

Fortnite on Switch gets gyro aiming

in Nintendo Discussion on 12 July 2018

Nice! The more shooters get this, the better. I really want gyro to establish itself as a standart. As soon as you've tried it you can't go back. (Or, alternatively, if you're very profficient with twin sticks, you might hate it because it's so precise and requires a steady hand. A lot of my friends find gyro too jittery. XD) ...

Octopath Traveler IGN Review - JRPG Dream Come True!

in Nintendo Discussion on 12 July 2018

Mine has just arrived! :3 Can't wait to open it up and get into it! Edit: It sounds like a little bit of a shame that the stories don't converge and tangle more past a certain point, but it is a very original choice to make and I'm willing to give the dev team a huuuge benefit of the doubt on the story, since I haven't played it yet....

Octopath Traveler is so popular it has sold out on Yodobashi Camera

in Nintendo Discussion on 11 July 2018

So it's probably extremely underrepresented at COMG. I'd love to see it do really well in japan as well as worldwide. I adore the artstyle and the story and mechanics seem solid from the demos so far. One of my most anticipated games since it got announced.   Edit: I just noticed that the physical version is sold out in amazon.de too now....

DF: Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy on Switch/Xbone/PC

in Gaming Discussion on 06 July 2018

I'm honestly surprised it looks and runs as well as it does. It might not be a very taxing game on the PS4, but it was nontheless build and optimized for that system at 30fps. The most obvious differences are the fur shader and the cutback in resolution. A lot of the other stuff you won't even notice without having side by side comparisions, especially in handheld mode. The cuts they made are...

How could Nintendo implement a Switch Pro?

in Nintendo Discussion on 02 July 2018

A lot of the third party ports and even nintendos own games use dynamic resolutions, so in theory most games wouldn't even need patches to take some advantage of a more powerful switch pro. The X2 is a good candidate, it could potentially double battery life in portable mode and offer some nice improvements docked....

This Friday's Switch releases: Wolfenstein II and Crash N.Sane Trilogy, which you getting?

in Nintendo Discussion on 27 June 2018

Both, but I might wait for a pricedrop on them because Octopath is also coming up, plus a few smaller things from past months I still want to get and I'm not made of money. But I want to support Bethesda for their stellar Switch ports so far (and for being awesome with wolf) and I'm happy crash is coming....

    I, Tonya

in Movies Discussion on 26 June 2018

I absolutely loved it and thought Margot Robbie really nailed it as Tonya. Making it a dark comedy and acknowledging how awful everyone involved and their circustances were, as well as not shying away from the fact that everybody still gives wildly variying accounts as to what really happened, was the best way they could have gone with it imo. You can't help but walk away with a grudging...

How many 3rd party titles have you bought for your Switch?

in Nintendo Discussion on 23 June 2018

As of my last update to the third party society 20. But it's actually a few more than that now, I need to update my number now that the thread is alive again. I only buy stuff I'm genuinely interested in though, so I'm not a pure collector or anything. I love Indies, so they tend to stack up. I think I only own three or four third party releases by big publishers, among them DOOM, LA Noire and...

Second time I preorder a game in 10 years and the game is Captain Toad

in Nintendo Discussion on 23 June 2018

I was delighted with it on wiiU. I'd ike to have it on Switch, but as with DKTP (a game I'm very happy is recieving a second life on Switch as well, as it's possibly the best platformer of all time) I'll wait for the price to go down, a Switch selcts line or buy it used. I've already spent full price on this game, so the sweet spot for me to double dip would be in the 15-20 range....

U.S. withdraws from UN Human Rights Council

in Politics Discussion on 20 June 2018

You know the reason why they can rip children from their parents and keep them in concetration camps? Because the US never ratified the conventions of the rights of the child, despite signing it. Over 30 years ago. No one thought: Hey, childrens rights should be something we should universally implement in over thirty years in the US. Makes you wonder what kind of fucked up priorities are...

We Happy Few Banned in Australia

in Gaming Discussion on 20 June 2018

One of the problems with government rating boards is that they seem to go out of their way to get people who either dislike or are indifferent to gaming as an art form as play testers. I've read an interview with the (sole) guy responsible for testing and giving out rating recommendations to the german ratingsboard about games they had considered 'liable to corrupt the youth' (yes, that is a...
