Are the fires so bad that the air quality in Melbourne is so terrible that Australian Open tennis players are legitimately having to quit matches? Based on the camera footage it certainly doesn't look like it visually. The fire footage showed pretty clearly how bad it is on site though.

I currently live and work in Melbourne. It has been quite hazardous the last few days. Thankfully we have quite a few storms over on the east/south east of Australia at the moment. Certainly will not stop the fires but... it may halt them spreading further.

Sorry to hear that. Just can't get away from it down there I guess. Don't wanna be in the outback, but also don't wanna be near or in the brush either right about now. Maybe they figured with the upcoming storms that the conditions might not be so bad for the players. Not an easy decision to make for an event like that. Not as if they can just fit it in later in the year without a significant effort, and cost, if it would even be possible.

Hopefully Pem goes Super Saiyan and put's those fires out.
