Since my last update, I gave Kaguya-sama: Love is War, My Roommate is a Cat, and Rising of the Shield Hero a try.
Kaguya-sama is hilarious. A lot of dialogue, but it's amusing to see the two characters plot how to force the other to confess. Seems pretty episodic, so hopefully it doesn't get too stale, but right now I find the premise amusing and the music/animation are top-notch. Hope that maid gets a lot of focus.
Cat was surprisingly heartwarming. Was expecting just funny cat shenanigans and so I was surprised to see it get heavy. Even made me cry twice. I'd say that's not an easy feat but I don't think anyone would believe me at this point. Mao seemed to enjoy it too.
Was curious why Shield Hero generated controversy already, since it started off like Isekai #XXXX. I got it after that twist in the second half though...I can see why Western sites that buy into the "Believe all women" thing would take issue with this episode. Seems stupid to me but whatever. Personally I thought the messed up situation was a good backdrop for the MC and made him that much more relatable. I'm looking forward to that eventual grudge match...hopefully it stays interesting!
With that, I'm at 12 shows this season, including my four carry-overs from 2018, and only one potential drop right now. Pretty stacked compared to usual.
