Soooo...the majority of gamers in the modern era?

The thing is a lot of current PS4 owners were Xbox owners last gen and would go to play on Xbox if they had a reason to. I think thats the irony of people saying its just Sony fans moaning.

The problem most of the time is perspective, I am a Sony fan but also a gamer, designer etc, I can have an unbiased view and have called out Sony when they do crap. The problem ends up that the most hardcore fans will defend something and just blame the other side (bit like politics).

The Xbox show was mediocre, the audience was a pain, and it was as others have said a big ad for Gamepass... the problem with MS is they keep making the same mistake that most companies (EA for example) make, which is make their shows a single focus. Xbox focus was gamepass, which I'm sure for people using it is a great service, but you have to be careful not to be looking at forcing that down peoples throats as you lose the message of here's just some games for you to play. The show reminded me a little of TV TV TV...

They could have cut an hour off the show, made it much tighter, calmed down the audience and that would have improved the show greatly.

Exactly. I don't HATE Xbox, I'm just very disappointed with them since about 2012 or so. I mean, I have an Xbox 360 with more games than any console before it (close to 60, my prior record was 44 on PS2, 36 on PS1) and I have an Xbox One. However, I rag on Microsoft a lot because, and get this, they have been doing terribly this gen and on the tail end of last gen.

I bought a 360 because it was dominating the charts and I wanted to play with friends. then support dried up for the system but the first year of the One looked enticing! So, despite them dropping the ball on the end of last gen, I had faith in their ability to impress me this gen; sounded like they learned their lesson! Well, I got an Xbox One within a year of launch and....I think I've put 50 hours into it total. I haven't personally played it in fur years (Seriously, they haven't released a single game I've been excited for since Gears of War 4....and I haven't even opened my copy of Gears 4 because I've been too busy playing PS4 and Switch games).

The point is that it's not about brand loyalty or fanboyism, it's that Microsoft really hasn't given me a reason to play their console. Honestly, I feel scorned because I not only bought myself a console back in 2014 but also got one for a friend with the hopes we'd play games together and have a gay old time. In 4 years I've bought only 9 games (and had 5 given to me by my roommate when he sold his Xbox and gamestop was giving him 2-6 dollars per game). I had more games on my Switch within its first year than I have in five years with the Xbox One.

So yes, I am critical of Microsoft...because they're doing a piss-poor job and I invested in them. I gave them my faith and they shit on me by continuing the dearth of quality game releases over the past few years. Over the past two years they've released FOUR exclusives that got over a 75 on metacritic - Halo Wars, Forza Horizon 4, Forza Motorsport 7, and Cuphead. (State of Decay and Sea of Thieves both got poor reviews upon release.) AND to make things worse, guess where I bought cuphead? Steam. I bought it on Steam. So while Microsoft has been focusing on selling the Xbox One X as 'the most powerful console ever', they already lost my faith by not putting out quality games that I can only get on that system. I bought the console when it was relatively new with the hopes I'd get something decent and they failed to deliver; slightly better graphics on games I can get on a console I've come to love and use daily is not enough to overcome the loss of faith.

So yeah, my original point still stands: The majority of gamers are pissing on Microsoft because Microsoft is dropping all the balls. This shows both in sales and in critical reception, and presentations like this one that just passed are only making things worse by having them double down on games that nobody gives a damn about or just aren't good as well as a feature (Gamepass) that is admittedly good but clearly a desperate attempt at grasping at anything they can offer.

Oh, and as for acquiring studios, they lost my faith in that regard when they MURDERED Rare. Until they fix that there's literally nothing they can do in regards to acquiring new studios that I'll care about; I'll always see them as murderers of otherwise talented studios.
