I suppose. I know I'm in the minority on the new God of War, but I'd rather God of War 2/3 over it every day of the week. They're far better games. Longer dev times to accomplish higher visual fidelity have absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the game.

I didn't say visual fidelity was the reason for the longer dev time. I said you don't know why those games took longer to develop. The graphics may have had nothing to do with it. Who knows?

My point has simply been that the notion that we can't have both photo-realism and a good game can be contradicted by recent releases that were critical and/or commercial successes. If better graphics meant we were seeing a lot of lower quality games, overall, from Sony, then yes, his viewpoint would be something to consider.

That's fair. I do think it's a bit naive so say that higher visual fidelity isn't to blame for longer dev times. Especially considering that these studios didn't become worse at their job from one gen to another.
