Just saw Under the Dog kickstarter got successfully funded and lost faith in humanity.

Anyone here payed 60$ for a low quality generic OVA ?

What makes you think it's low quality? Sure the theme and visuals are extremely generic but it can and probably will be at least good quality. Look at the names working on it.

I wonder what you think of this Kickstarter then.

It really does look interesting, and I look forward to seeing what they do with the talent they have. What I don't like is the price, $25 for a single OVA is insane, especially when they have practically already announced an entire season. For that much cash, I would think digital downloads for each and every episode.

Also, the comments on "saving" anime seem a bit off. Anime is just like it has always been- there are some truly great titles in a sea of mediocrity. It happens with every media, actually, whther it be television or books. People tend to forget that we've had some masterpieces like FMA Brotherhood and Steins;Gate come out very recently (last 5 or so years), along with other amazing anime like Code Geass, Clannad, Monogatari, Shingeki no Kyogin, and Baccano (among countless others) coming out in the last decade as well.

Sure, there are plenty of mediocre to bad generic fanservice echii anime, but it doesn't mean that quality anime aren't as prevalent as they've always been. A single fan-funded anime "saving" the genre when it doesn't really even need saving kinda rubbed me the wrong way, or else I may have even funded it, even with the price being so steep.
