Look at all the "high quality" games that people don't want

What does this even mean?  Why would anyone say that when just about every game you can mention is being re-sold somewhere?

I'm honestly puzzled by this.

That's simply not true if I read you correctly. Nintendo first party games are generally much harder to find in stores under the "used" shelf, wheras Sony and MS first party games are far more often available in the used section. Companies like Nintendo (and there are others) are of such charming quality that people never want to resell them again, whereas companies like Sony and Microsoft which sell games that often times (not always by the way) feel heartless and less than charmful have a lot of used games in stores. I hardly ever see used first party Nintendo games in stores. People keep those games.

and valves never get traded, speaks volume about valves quality.

Sorry but you got half of it correct. In a lot of cases Sony quality actually acts like Nintendo quality, look at Last of Us, or Uncharted (Before the repackaged version).

Activision actually does this with Call of Duty as well. It is making sure that the product you created is wanted by the userbase, that doesn't want to trade it in. Also that the demand for the product exists.
