After ten years as a Live subscriber (will be 11 this fall) and owning an XBOX and an XBOX 360, purchasing 61 xbox 360 game (4 used) and 34 xbox games (3 used), I am now planning on leaving console gaming after reading http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/06/microsoft-details-xbox-one-used-games-always-online-and-privacy-policies/

before reading that i had hoped that the XB1 release event was just an unfortunate prelude to some good info at E3 and still hope for change, but the terms MS is coming with the new box are too much. I now plan on sticking my money where my mouth is and not join the next gen, for the first time since i was 5 with an NES and not be a console gamer (MS makes up about half my console gaming life.... and i will be sad not to finnish the new halo saga).

I do not understand MS current desire to ruin their brands something they have worked so hard to build and attack people to.  it has been apparent since the New xbox experience that something was changing i hoped it would be a + in the long run an add on to the great gaming ecosystem I enjoyed but now i see a company not understanding a market and trying to force it to their will.

I see this as a move much like coke made with NEW coke, but not something as easy to fix due to MS being unable to say they have done wrong.

perhaps i should not care as much, but console gaming has been a friend who was there after every move to a new and sometimes unfriendly place when i was younger. for now i will continue to use and play the 360, and enjoy a back catalog on my ps2, sb, and SNES… maybe look into getting a PS3 until next next gen….

edit, another thought, how many others are leaving (esp those with 10+ years )? i saw Wick on FB saying no to the next box
