It'd last however long the food lasted, more or less.

This assumes the zombies are not intelligent enough to take advantage of things like canned goods, but seems to me like once the larger amount of healthy humans to devour were gone (the healthy people learned to stay away from the zombies or government/military forces managed to quarantine the undead), then it would just end up being a matter of time until they turned on and ate each other. Then the problem takes care of itself. Food is everything, especially to a zombie.

Yeah food is everything in survival. But for a zombie food does nothing. The dead don't digest. They would feed untill they split open and then feed and drop it all out the hole. Zombies would not gain anything from eating. Feeding wouldn't prolong their undead state. They would only be effect for the short amount of time they have before their tissue fails and it wouldn't take long.

Assuming we are going by traditional zombies, the undead kind.
