Do people have a greater rooting interest in exclusives selling than actually a buying interest?

What I see a lot is fanboys who get all hyped for a new title and then the title doesn't sell. What that tells me is fanboys don't in any way represent the real consumer. For that reason I rarely give much thought to the kind of threads your talking about.
