The console jrpg games have you played this gen? SO4 is probably the worst of the pile of lackluster jrpgs this gen.

From recent to least recent: SO4, ToV, Infinite Undiscovery, Eternal Sonata, Enchanted Arms, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are good but even those required me to force myself to finish after getting on the last disc. ToV is highly-rated but I didn't really care much for it (and I played until the credits since I really wanted to like it but I didn't)

I actually didn't mind Enchanted Arms but that's probably because it has Auto Battle + Fast Forward. lol. Takes out the tedium of random encounters.

I also had fun with Shining Force from the Ultimate Genesis Collection but that's a SRPG and obviously not this gen, lol. And Muramasa on Wii, which I've tried a bit, is fun but that's pretty much a beat-em-up with levels so you can't put it in the traditional jrpg camp.

And it's not just the current gen. I don't have the motivation to play through the ones on PS2 either (FF12, DQ8, Persona 4, etc.)

So yeah, I just seem to prefer playing them on handhelds for some reason. Maybe it could be an old-school nostalgia thing.

OH COME ON GAMESPOT WKC IS NOT THAT BAD!!

seriously it sounds like the person who reviewd this does not like doing complicated dungeons, me personally, i love them, and i already knew the story was not original, come on what is, everything almost has been covered.

all of the con's they mentioned does not equal 4 points taken away, oh wait it's a ps3 exclusive, i shall say no more.

to me this game is a 8/10, its not perfect, it is not the best rpg ever made, but it is still a solid jrpg. the multiplayer will be fun.

Finally most of the critics so far have been handing out 7's and 8's, just to confirm even OPM gave it an 8/10, that is a more reliable source than gamespot.

Haven't we learned already this gen that we should never trust JRPG reviews?



If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

i saw that xenoblade trailer, looks really bad.

What you saw was the alpha version.

the players view is more accurate than the gamespot view, i would also rate it around 8/10, basically this has been unfairly underated by gamespot.

That's an even lower score than The Last Remnant got. Level-5 has really dropped the ball on this one.
