Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii 2 to go beyond HD

If it was more powerful than the XBOX 720 and PS4, then that would be a great turnaround for Nintendo right there.

like the cube was?a turnaround of losses.Sure it would be nice for it to be powerful(again), but power alone means nothing. And the cube still lost multiplats like the wii does, due to the demographics perception.

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

so what would devs excuse to not develope for nintendo's next console next gen?

I highly doubt that this is true. What I truely think will happen is that the graphics will be on the same level as the Gamecube, the controls will be a little better, and it will have a 75% market share next generation.

I'm more interested on how the controller will look than the "Wii 2."

It's too powerful and expensive compared to the Wii, which had great costs and profit margin. What do you mean we didn't care about those? We loved the Wii just as we love the Gamecube.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

They'll probably go X86 to dispense with any problems. An accurate mouse like interface deserves binary compatibility with the PC market, right? Add native video decoding, reasonable quantities of ram and a reasonable size chassis, they can then work their magic once again making relatively basic hardware sing to entertain a very wide spectrum of the populace.

I would no be surprised if the next generation console was:

4x 2gbit/4gbit DDR3 RAM (1/2 GB) + on board cache like at present.
Fusion AMD with 2-4 modules of Bulldozer cores + 320 -> X (more than 300) stream processors.
TDP at or less than 50W.

The real question is in the interface and software, not the box itself. I don't expect to be amazed at all by the hardware next to the TV, its how they use it!
