For the people voting Link's Awakening down and voting Link to the Past up, have you even played both? Link's Awakening is so insanely better. It was the last great top-down Zelda made by Nintendo before they went 3-D, and ever since the top-down Zeldas have been made by Capcom.

I respectfully disagree.

I own and have played both many times. Link's Awakening has a lot going for it, but it doesn't come close to Link to the Past. Link to the Past is the origin of many aspects that have been carried forth in the Zelda franchise such as areas (Kakariko), music, items, and characters (Cucco!). Not only did it return to the roots of the original Zelda, but it vastly expanded upon them to build much of what has come to define the Zelda series.

In terms of originality, execution, and overall fun... Link to the Past easily blows away almost all of its competition. Link to the Past defines the spirit of the Legend of Zelda games. You have to understand what Link to the Past did for the franchise especially after Link's Adventure frustrated and disappointed so many fans of the original. Link to the Past took a franchise that could have died or turned into just another side-scrolling platformer, gave it a shot of Awesome and Win, and revived those aspects that fans loved and then some.

The excellence of Link to the Past is why we have all the great Zelda games we have today. Link's Awakening is a good game, but Link to the Past crushes it on pretty much every level.

Link's Awakening was basically a direct sequel to Link to the Past, and took every single good thing about that game and made it better. If that doesn't make the whole game better, I don't know what does. It had plush Yoshi dolls, pet chain chomps, Dr. Wright cameos, Game Boy camera bonuses, and the funniest trading quest of any game ever. It mixed everything good from Link to the Past with a dash of 2-D action Link's Adventure style, but not too much to ruin it.

That is my humble synopsis of the situation, and why I am doing this:

Do not do that again.

Understand that many posters on this site post from very different time zones than the GMT 0 this website displays on post times.  It is easily possible for someone to do what looks like voting multiple times in a single day if you only go by the GMT time (night one day, morning the next).

Rol didn't deny it, but it's still bad form to essentially tell another poster "Hey, you're cheating" when they may not be doing such (even if it does help a game I like...).
