Philips makes loads of stuff.

I have a Philips TV (a HD CRT) and it's really good.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

you didn't mention 3d did you?

i wouldn't worry about 3d tv's yeT

anyway i bought an Lg at xmas and it is superb,i know that it is the cheaper of the best brands and it was all i could afford, but i can't complain and according to the manual i get a 3 year on site fix/swap so that 's me happy for a few years,

i can't imagine any modern telly not coming with a built in digi box these days unless it's a specific model tv,

i suggest you buy the best that you can afford,i don't think you will be dissapointed,i wasn't,and its brilliant for games and movies,i did get a full HD model, which is what i wanted

Samsung is by far the best at LCD's and they are usually cheaper then Sony.
Their LED TV's are outstanding in brightness and picture quality.
The 9000 Series of Samsung's will be the first to fully support 3-D that Blu-Ray group is going to try to use. The 8000's (neither 8000 or 9000 are released yet) may be 3-D compatible with firmware update or out of the box. Details on that are not yet released, or at least not where I have read.

9000 series will be their premier models, while 8000 series will be the slightly less featured model. This is how Samsung almost always releases TV's, 2 model series at a time.

Most BD-Live 2.0 Blu-Ray players will be firmware update-able to 3-D, some won't. PS3 will.

According to my latest research, I still cannot tell for sure if the current 7000 series will support 3-D.

*update*I just found an article that says the 2010 7000 series models will have native 3-D, but still no info if current 7000 series models are capable of it.  link: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2357739,00.asp

I'm currently not sure whether to buy the LG 37' LH4000 (Full HD & 100 Hertz) or the LG 37' LH3000 (Full HD & 50 Hertz). The first one would be around 599 Euros and the second one ~ 480 Euro.

My main question is, if 100 Hertz is important for playing PS3 or is the difference between both that visible? What would be better to watch TV and/or play Wii relating to the amount of Hertz? I want to play most of the time PS3 and Wii on it.

Has anyone some experiences with both models?

Please help me! I just got a new PS3 Slim and I want to play it on a TV with HD v_v'

i would suggest you wait just till may 2010 and then buy it.if sony releases 3d tv's at a reasonable rate then it would be great for you.

about the 3d tv's refresh rate.it is  100-120hz minimum but i would suggest 150hz cause most companies have problem with the minimum tech so you should a little bufferzone(extra).

also the 3d tv's hertz requirement thing isn't gonna matter neccesarily cause 3d isn't mainstream yet and they are trying out different ways and technologies to produce it..if in future companies come with another way of producing 3d then your 100hertz tv won't do anything cause the future technology would work differently.

so i would suggest you to wait till may 2010 then when Sony launch their 3d tv's,you will atleast know whether they are using the same tech as now or a new one so that you will be assured that tech is supported well in the future and your PS3 will also work with it.so whichever tech they are using will be supported and will become mainstream

I didn't want to wait until May 2010 because of Final Fantasy XIII and I assume that their 3D TV will be super expensive.

i am not saying you buy Sony tv's only.but you will atleast know at tech they are using.you might buy a 100hertz tv now and then sony and all other tv manufacture bring out 3d tv's that need atleast 200hertz then you buying a 100hertz tv may become useless.you might as well then buy a 80hertz tv then which will be cheaper.

and if you wait till then you will better able to select as you will be assured that you will not have to change another tv again.

and being that you are ready to buy a 600 euros tv which is an expensive one,you might as well wait as sony could price at around that rate too cause they are starting a huge 3d campaign involving sky tv 3d and other networks with 3d fifa world cup so they will not want to price it too high.they might this time price it right for the consumers.sony is launching 3d tv's in may.

i know FF13 the big CGI and next graphic defining game is coming in march but you might regreat about your tv the next month.

i suggest you connect ff13 to your comp screen and play it their in full hd or just wait a month.

right now Sony and LG are the best.

samsung OLED are good, but heard alot of problem with their TVs and refrigerators and especially consumer service.

sony lg panasonic are offering 3-4 years warrantys for Tvs in alot of countries ask for it.

Totally agree^

LG is a fantastic make now, they have came a LONG way from the days when they made a lot of rubbish, we have a 52" LG LH5000 200hz LCD 1080P display that we got 3 days ago as our 11 month old LG went wrong, LG gave us the next model up for free, superb service!

The picture and motion control on the LH5000 is absolutely fantastic, easily on par (and better than a lot) of plasmas out there, Samsung tv's are quite poor these days specially the 2009 LCD models they bought out, panosonic LCD tv's are known to be quite bad at motion too.

To the OP, My mum and dad has the 42" LG LH4000 100hz and it is a superb set, it has so many features and settings, it has 3 HDMI (1.3), 2 Scart, PC input, component, Freeview built in (just connect your aerial), USB, 100hz, etc, one of the best sets on the market for the money!

Gonna be picky here... LG certainly doesnt rank among the 'best'.  There might be a case of best value for money, but best no...

Sony, Philips, >>> Panasonic> Samsung and LG

Totally wrong^

Philips should NOT be anywhere in that list for a start lol, Samsung, don't make me laugh lol
