Forums - PC - Windows vs. Linux real world

I was going into my first day of hands-on Air Battle Manager training last Thursday.  I get on the scope (the device we use to see what the radar is detecting) and I quickly notice it is based in Linux.  The reason I can tell is the shape of the mouse cursor when logging on, and when the machine starts, one of the lines that comes up says "linux version blah blah blah".  Anyway, soon after starting, one of the Instructiors came in and said that someone who was assigning him/herself as WD 3 was kicking the controller downstairs off of his console who was performing a live mission.  If you didn't figure this out, disabling a controller who is directing live aircraft is a bad thing, especially when they crash.  Anyway, they blamed us, even though it was entirely the fault of the simulation system we were working on; It was not supposed to work like that.  After a few minutes of diagnostics, they determined it was the brand new, Windows based scopes a room over that was causing the problem.  Some guys were practicing with them, and was screwing up the live mission.

I laughed.
