I have a Fat ps3 so i can't really answer, anyway I'm giving you a bump.

Also you can google it to see that some peoples ps3 slims do run hot.

My PS3 FAT gets hot on its right side. It is because my has more guts in it though due to it being a 80 GB MGS4 PS3. I don't like it when it gets hot. But I love my PS3 to death. ; ;

OT: Not really, it makes funny noises right after I turn it on and again right after turning it off again (yeah, its not horny for me all the time) but it never feels really warm.

my ps3 slim gets hot at the back, but only when i play on games, but it's just doing it's job, getting rid of the hot air.

If I leave mine on for about 4 hours, then it starts to heat up, but for some reason it cools down again just as fast. I don't really know but I always assumed that once it reached a certain heat, the fan would kick into over drive and cool it down.
