Microsoft to cut Xbox360 price when Wand arrives, says Patcher

2010 will be a critical year for both of Sony and Microsoft. In fact, it might be the year that determines the winner of the HD war. Exclusive games, cutting prices and releasing new peripherals are some of the strategies those companies will be using to attract consumers.

Anyways, on the latest episode of Bonus Round on gametrailers.com, the infamous videogames analysis Michael Patcher has predicted that Microsoft will be cutting down the price of the Xbox360 when Sony launches its motion-sensing game controller code name Wand.

It’s yet to be seen if Microsoft will make this move in 2010. But who knows? What do you think, will Microsoft cut the price of the Xbox360 in 2010? Tell us what do you think.

i don't think the wand is that big of a deal. MS will cut the price this year, i don't think the wand will be part of the equation.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

MSFT will make the cut when they roll out their next iteration of boxes, just like they did for the past two years. If it coincides with the Wand release, well, that makes Pachter correct.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

He Who Must Not Be Named should not be taken a credible source. More likely they'll have a Natal bundle for the price of a current model.

MS has said that they would be cutting prices in 2010, but i dont see what sony's wand would have a lot to do with it, the wand isn't going to be a system seller, natal barely will be. MS might want to hype up its natal release by cutting prices THEN.

a source/link for that would be great....and yes, i will actually have to agree with patcher on this, a 360 price cut will destroy any hope the motion wands bring with them imo

Who's this "PATCHer" guy? Is he related to Pachter?

@radiant shadow--It was one of MS's investor conference calls mentioning more competitive pricing this year. I'm not going to look it up, but all indicators say that they will have a cut this year. Also, I dont have any confidence that Sony's wand will do squat, i mean what does the public expect, sony has hardly even promoted the wand so far. So, sony has this great new whizbang contraption but they haven't really done that much marketing at all on it? Please. It's just another add-on for sony, nothing special so no, I think that MS will wait on this.

A price drop in 2010 isn't much of a surprise. It hasn't had one since 2008. And it was probably being sold at a profit then as well.

If they price cut and sell Natal as a stand alone that would be a better option rather then just bundling all systems with Natal. It would hurt adoption rate but aren't they going to cost $80 individually? A $50 price cut across the board would be more appealing for most people and help them further second place with a $150 arcade. It's not $100 "WTF you don't own one?" price point but would be getting closer and closer :P

It's just that simple.
