Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 'Insomniac Games comments on Project Natal'

@Ben

Im just saying both of these compays have done their fair share of pud shots at their rival console and same for the fanboys of both sides.

True true I'm far from saying that 360 fans are all perfect and awesome. I've seen some seriously annoying 360 fanboys. My main point is about the forums on this site. Every time people try to discuss anything 360 related it just gets torn to shreds. Ps3 related threads now days can go for hundreds of posts while 360 ones go for maybe 30, half of which are dissing it. Thats not to say its the sites fault I don't think their fanboys at all, but is hard to be a pro 360 fan on these forums now days.

MS and Sony realise one of the big impediments to gaming is the controller (Nintendo already knows this) and while hardcore gamers will not approve of Natal (I don't care about it much though I'm willing to give it a try) the mass market especially women might start playing games cause of it. This is MS vision and the mass market won't care about a few milli seconds of lag or the fact that it can't go more the 30fps (most games can't anyway). There will still be room for the control pad, both will live side by side at least for a while.

But isn't the high definition argument also voided by this same logic? The Wii's sales are proof that graphics do not matter, especially to this audience, so how do MS really think they can compete with the Wii?

Without graphics mattering we just dont know.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The Wii-Mote didn't revolutionize anything either, its a gimmick that will be replaced when Nintendo finds something more shiny to sell. The good old controller was designed for console gaming in mind, it simply is the best way to controle a console game. The Wii-Mote wasnt designed to work better for consoles, it was designed to do something else so that Nintendo didnt have to fight the same battle as Sony and Microsoft (which they lossed to both lastgen) and it worked. So I agree with Insomniac although my reasons are different, gaming politics forbid them from really giving an answer.

...and in the latest news a sack of rice has toppled in china

insomiac reacted instantly by stating: uh-huh!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

a lot of people are blinded by hype and Peter M's bullshit these days, when the truth is that Natal is simply a multi-infrared camera with a mic. For our gaming sake, the thing needs to fail, that's not a good future.

And your saying this based on what fact??  Its not even out yet and your quick to say it will be worthless and will ruin gaming if it doesn't fail?!?  Dude things can live in harmony, there will always be the hardcore games that won't use motion control.

Saying that natal needs to fail before you've even seen in person, what it can actually do is like saying a certain race of people need to die off just because you don't understand them.

Pieces of plastic+ circuit boards =/= humans, too much mass effect? there are different standards for everything, if it turns out I'm right, what then? Kill all Navis? I've seen it, the actual scheduled supposed dev kit won't even go out until June( if they even meet that deadline) from my inside source, what's been given out so far are just partial dev kits, what amazing titles do you think they'd have by release date with only a few months of actual working SDK? /scratches head.

Ask them what they think of the Wand.

"We love it. Best tech we;ve ever seen!"

Wow! They said "nuh-uh"?!?!

It's hard to dispute a lucid and well thought out argument like that.

I doubt its only sony developers who feel this way

I don't know what kind of games they will have nor if it will be an amazing product.  I'm just saying you can't want something to fail when its not even close to being out.  You have no idea if it will be good or an epic disaster.
