Forums - PC Discussion - My new computer

I just bought a new computer. I want to maybe try and upgrade it a little bit more when i get a some more moolah.

I7 2.8gigahertz quadcore processor

4 gigs of DDR3 ram upgradeable to 8 gigs.(or was it 16? i forget)

Geforce GTS 250(This is what i think really should be upgraded)

500 GB HDD(a bit small right?)

I was wondering, whats a better card i can get? And does anyone know a good company to get a 1TB+ hard drive from?

and whats a good game to really test how pretty of a game my computer can run? lol

500 GB should be fine. Personally im using a 32 GB SSD hdd for my windows vista installation and a 500 GB HDD and i dont need more than that. As for your video card you could upgrade to a GTX 285 or even a 295. Or better yet wait till next gen cards are released.

Long Live SHIO!

Upgrading to 16 GB is pretty much useless, as Windows 7 64bit can only use up to 8 GB. It's a problem on my new computer. I can't understand why Windows only can recognize only so much ram.

I'd change that card for a new ATi... but that's just me.

Leave the RAM. 4GB is good enough for anyone.

The GTS 250 is certainly the weak point of that system. You should upgrade to at least a 5850 or 5870, or wait for Nvidia's Fermi/GF100 depending on how much you think it'll live up to the hype.

is 8GB of ram any good? well'll be getting a new one to finally and i hear ram is the most important.

Looks nice, though your video card is rather weak.

Congrats on the purchase!

sounds more like a hardware issue. Windows can regonize a lot more ram than that.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I'm pretty sure Win7 64-bit goes up to 128 GB or something high that no one can really reach presently.

Out of curiosity, how much did you spend on it? Did you built it yourself, or was it pre-made?
