A favorite insight of mine: “The AR (Assault Rifle) in Reach actually has more polygons than an entire Marine character did in Halo 3.” Despite working on a gutted Halo 3 engine, the assault rifle alone in Halo: Reach has more polygons than an entire marine from Halo 3, which means that the graphical improvements in Halo: Reach are certainly setting up to be astounding.

Very interesting read for graphics whores and graphics prudes alike :)

Of course, if we end up with weapons being carried around by stick figures, I won't be THAT impressed

Im really looking to Reach. I felt Halo 3 had a free pass since it came before COD4. Since then the FPS genre has been getting more competitive.
Modern Warfare 2, Killzone 2 and now Bad company 2. All top notch on the gameplay and Graphics department.
Bungie needed to step it up big time and im loving the results.

And to all the guys saying "Halo 3 was all about gameplay". When i pay $60 for a game i expect great gameplay with great graphics to go with it. Last time i checked Halo 3 was $60 at launch.

Uh, yeah.

And it's launch was way back in 2007.

The graphics were much more impressive back then. Gameplay was still the main event though, with co-op, theater, multi, bungie.net integration and single player. An unheard of amount of content for a console fps. Hell, it's impressive now since they just keeping adding to it all.

Word

ive yet to see a game as friendly as Halo 3.  Why do developers skip Split/LAN this days?

Still Halo 1 & 2, had the best graphics at their time. Halo 3 dropped them to average.

True.

I guess developers are more focused on the now rather than the later these days. They would rather have a few impressive modes and maybe sell a few more through DLC then go on to the next project. A game like Halo 3 can last forever with all of those modes. However, a more shallow game can keep people hooked for the immediate time period until a sequel/re-boot comes along. And that's what devs seem to be going for these days.

On a side note I personally cannot play split screen :-/ It hurts my eyes.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... I'm hoping Halo: Reach will be like Gears of War 2 in the graphics department.  Probably won't be quite that good though.

Wow?

                                       That's Gordon Freeman in "Real-Life"

And I'm sure Killzone 1 & 2 are identical to you.

The environments look terrible still...

How can you say this when the game isin't even out. Obviously they haven't polished it yet.

Great, Halo 3 had some of the best graphics.

The marine evolution one is crap. He would have his MARPAT (or whatever that is) pants tucked into his boots + there would be no shoulder armor and all that extra crap. It is to make it look fancy. URL: http://terminalgamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Halo-Marine-Comparisons.jpg

cool. I care alot more about game play but i would definitly like bungie to push the 360 with their next title. halo 2 was the most amazing looking game last gen and even today still looks pretty good. Imagine if they put that much effort in with the 360

Long Live SHIO!
