game of the year in January???

In terms of quality? Absolutely.

But I have serious doubts a game released so soon can win. There's a ton of titles coming out in the 2010 holiday rush, and those will be "fresher" in everyone's minds.

Question for you guys:

I bought a 360 this summer and have not played ME1 yet. I don't have a ton of time for gaming. Should I go straight into ME2, or should I do a quick run-through of ME1 first? The trailers for ME2 looked absolutely epic, and something I totally want to experience.

How long does it take to beat ME1 anyway? Opinions?

Play ME1 but ignore side quests (they're crap actually in ME1 anyway).  The central story is actually rather short in truth so it shouldn't take you long.  I guess if you want to really fly through play on Easy and you'll blast through it.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

They may also be better.  We simply don't know yet.  ME2 is clearly an early strong contender, but no way can you call it over titles that haven't even been released or played.

If you play through it properly it adds a lot more. I don't think it is really worth playing ME 1 before 2 unless you do it properly

Best game released in January for Sure!
Am about 20 hours in and its getting kind of repetitive, Doing missions for your team mate and such, Mining the planets is the Worst! So Long, i upgraded almost everything, i got 200K for each resources apart from Element Zero which is a Pain in the A!! lol

Yah, but if he just wants to rattle through making the core decisions that feed into ME2 then that's better than not playing ME1 at all IMO.  At least you'll have the basics of the plot then.

"Oh i am the very model of a scientist salarian,
I've studied species Turian, Asari and Batarian,
I'm quite good at genetics as a subset of biology,
Because I am an expert, which i know is a totalogy

My xenoscience range from urban to agrarian
I am the very model of a scientist salarian"

Best thing in the game by far no exceptions. Have ripped it and is now my ringtone on my iphone :D

Your choices in the first game have big things to do with how the game plays for you. It's a totally different experience story wise. Not to mention one thing I just got to which also can effect what happens in the third one as well.

That would be a no.

Trust me X360 owners are gonna push Halo Reach for GOTY 2010. X360 only owners will say Halo Reach is GOTY after it's release. Think about it people
