Astroturfing huh? So thats what you get called now since they can't call you a troll, you can be a shill instead! Anyway I suspect that any astroturfers on Vgchartz would have a 1000+ post count. They need to build up the reputation of the username before they can use the sock puppet for anything useful.

This is only semi-true. There are pros and cons for both sides.

1000+ post people have more influence, but sub 1000 post people have the air of being of a more mainstream capacity.

People tend to read posts of people they 'know' more closely. I've noticed my own posts have gained more attention as my post count has risen. I also read it on some piece about how companies astroturf forums and they also mentioned getting a high innocuous post count. They want to appear unbiased before they are activated on whatever issue the company wants. The good astroturfers here would be 1000+ post counts, post on all forums and act like an unbiased individual except relating to the issues they are paid to push. Someone like you would make a good Astroturfer, want a job?

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

By biggest issue with viral marketing is with product reviews online. I recently looked up reviews on a snowboard, and just finding someone who used the board and didn't sound like they were paid to do so was incredibly hard.
