They certainly aren't going to announce any change while the Wii is still king in sales. It's holding steady at about 50% of the games market. You don't suddenly switch systems when your the dominate player. I'd expect MS would be the first to announce a new system, maybe in 2012

even if nintendo releases a wii 2 or whatever right now, you still have dozens of great games already out/about to come out, so it won't really be a waste. you could atleast live off the existing software library for a couple years, and then get nintendo's next console eventually.

if you really want a black wii, i don't know how long you'll be waiting, since it hasn't been announced yet.

Going by the OP it appears the Wii is supply constrained in the U.S. Not the PS3 like some fanboy in another thread, tried to have us believe. Also, going by the release schedule, i'd say there will be no next-gen Wii for at least 2 years.

as far as i know, i don't think the wii is widely sold out anymore. might be sold out in some localized areas (like where the op loves)

I hear you...with Nintendo things constantly change...I would wait till E3...since you have both of the HD consoles...Now my question is there any games out there on the Wii that pull in you're interest...

There are at least several places that are sold out right now in the US. However, it's only been sold out for a short time, and I don't expect it to last. Nintendo historically has trouble Jan and early Feb as they restock the supply channels from the Holidays.

ill wait for an black wii, because i think its already out in here in Europe, it wouldn't surprise me if nintendo announce it at E3 this year
