I like how it's implied that the only reason Netflix requires a disc on the PS3 is because of a partnership Microsoft has with Netflix. Kick the BS to the curb, Pachter.

What other reason then?

What do you mean? The burden of proof is not on me to come up with a reason, there's no proof of that being the reason, and I'm calling him on it.

What a ridiculous comment.. In our country (NZ) we are innocent until proven guilty, is that not the case in yours? You could say things like that to anyone, ie. "You are a crook.", the burden of proof isn't on me to prove i'm not, the burden of proof is on you to prove i am. Really..

Your comment is ridiculous. THERE IS NO PROOF that Microsoft has any sort of agreement keeping it on a disc for the PS3. Wanna show me the evidence? I'm waiting for it. If Pachter wants to show it, I'm waiting. I don't have to provide any proof to refute something, when there's no proof that I've done so. You need to relearn what "innocent until proven guilty" means, and stop ignoring it just because it's Microsoft and the popular opinion is "well, it seems like something they would do."

Until you, Pachter, or anyone else provides a credible source, it's all BS conjecture, which has no place in the real world.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

the reasoning for the disc could easily just be a workaround to prevent Sony from charging Netflix bandwidth usage charges like they do software publishers for demo's. Again though we don't know.

what?  Sony has the full support of this disk, otherwise they wouldn't have backed it.

when they launch this in the UK (dream) i will use it lol

Rumours are that LoveFilm have done a deal with SCEE.

Netflix?? What's that? Some North American setup that means nothing to Europeans.

Now LoveFilm, that's different.

If this is true that will be great as I am signed up with them.

Rumour also has it that Sky's UK exclusive with x360 is rather short and will soon be on the PS3 - although this doesn't really interest me.

Rumours, rumours, rumours.

I seriously don't know why you would sign up for netflix because of console streaming. The selection is "meh" if you are getting it just for that. I got netflix because $17/month for unlimited blu-ray/dvd rentals/month is pretty dang sweet. The movie streaming to PC/Console is just a bonus.

Netflix has an amazing selection of movies/shows to stream. The only thing they lack is the recent big budget hollywood films. So if you're just looking for whats new and popular instead of what's good then it will suck for you, but that's what the discs are for. They have a huge selection of classic films, out of print films, foreign films, decade old blockbusters and recent indie films as well as documentaries and stand up comedy shows. My Instant queue stays at the 500 limit because there are so many movies I want to watch. And I don't even touch the tv show section.

I have had a chance to check it out...I had to get a new PS3...I might check it out...sometimes on PSN the movies aren't that easy to find..

I'll just rent a movie if I want to watch it. I don't have time to watch movies all day,but apparently some of you do.
