We all know that in every FPS game there this famous Sniper or in other words campers, to some they are the same however to many campers are different than snipers.

i'd like to pose a question, how do you feel bout them and do you yourself like to play as the sniper, or you perfer the more heads on kind of thing.

DO discuss.........

difference between sniping and camping, effective sniping and effective camping, shits complicated, just if you feel the need the sit in one spot while I'm playing, you better be in a productive spot where your actually helping, catch you in the great beyond and your ass is grass.

Depends on the game, maybe even the map of the game. Snipers were god damn useless in Battlefield 1942 because they couldn't effectively cap or defend a flag. And despite the fact that snipers regularly got either murdered or ignored by everybody else and earned lousy scores, servers would be full of losers afraid to get their hands dirty in real battle.

I had more respect for good snipers in Team Fortress 2. The maps were contained so that snipers would sometimes have to get in the thick of things, and a skilled sniper could be a real asset. Dropping overhealed heavies in a single shot, killing doctors before they could uber, or even just defending their team from other snipers. They were probably the third hardest class to play effectively in that game, so I still hated noob snipers for not rolling up something easier so that they could actually contribute to the team.

As for camping, I viewed it as a legitimate tactic in both games. Generally a waste of time compared to actually fighting on the front lines, though.

I hate them.

They have nothing better to do then wait for me.

Wait...that sounds like me.

1. Camping and sniping is different.

2. I've yet to play a game online where a camper has bothered me. I have however gotten pissed numerous times at the jackasses that run around like idiots waiting to be spotted and have their heads blown off. Typically these people bitch about campers a lot.

I do whatever the situation calls for. There are times to camp a spot or area and there are times to move. It's called good strategy.

To me snipers and campers are totally different. A sniper camps because he is armed with a long

distance powerful rifle which is more affective at longer distances. but a camper is someone who jumps

from corner to corner in a room aiming at the doorway.

In Results: I hate campers

Snipers are ok because that actually requires skill.

I tend to be a sniper in games, and always get bitched at no matter how much I contribute.
My last example was playing a game in Uncharted 2, I was on The Sanctuary map in a 5 on 5 deathmatch. I was moving from spot to spot on the middle roof sniping. On numerous occasions I had to get into close battles when they tried to flank me and had to rely on my pistol and melee but even in a Close Quarters 2 on 1 they couldn't kill me. I ended up finishing in the lead with 18 kills and 2 deaths. After the game two guys bitched me out for "Camping"

Snipers are cool.

i liked being a sniper in the first modern warfare. outsniping other snipers was awesome. fun trying to find the perfect sniping spot too...like maybe half inside some rubble that didnt have a physical presence in the game ...or in a bush with clear views of mulitple capture spots for domination and nearly invisible to people even right next to you. remembering to not zoom out after a shot so its harder for the dead person to locate you lol
i had so much fun sniping in it.

i loved taking my golden dragunov into shipment(?) (the small map with the crates) and owning the crap out of everyone.

sniping was practically destroyed in mw2.

I'm fine with snipers. Though campers.... As much as I hate to say it... That's about the Gayest you can be in an FPS.

Snipers can be awesome to watch at times. Specially the ones which move to other positions and don't grow roots for staying on one spot for too long.
