Forums - General Discussion - A lesson of buying new products from apple Buy the ipad 1-3 years from now

When the ipod touch first came (ipod touch 1gen) out, my sis bought for 450-500 plus tax, yea the 32gb.

Now that ipod is complete garbage compared to the second gen (350-400)and doesnt exist to the 3rd gen since its now 250-300 plus tax.

Soooooo, this ipad from apple is a horrible mistake to buy now with its horrible pricing. Only sony can price something so high, since the tech is up there, talking about the ps3. This mac version of windows mobile is not a think to buy now, so waiting til the prices come back down to earth is the best bet.

P.S. If your gonna buy for gaming or an ipod, ur joking seriously joking. You can get a gaming laptop with all that 3g for around that price and you'll have buy a case and bag to put it in, because that definitely wont fit your pocket.

They should make a more powerful iphone that can use mac programs instead of this.

If you wait three years to buy this thing, there might not be a thing to buy.

I don't see this being a huge success. I see it like the Mac Book Air: Cool, and something there is a market for, just that the market is small.

I tend to hate using Macs at the best of times, let alone one that I carry around with me everywhere I go. I think it will be a safe bet that I will not be buying the iPad.

It's common knowledge early adopters get screwed.

-edit-

And if someone is stupid enough to buy an iPod without seeing the bajliion other models, buying an iPhone and seeing the two other models, or iAnything and not knowing that Apple constantly releases revisions then it's their own dumb fault.

Also, I'd love to see a gaming laptop for $830.  Sure, I could buy a netbook that could run Torchlight for a few hundred dollars, but I wouldn't call that a gaming laptop.  I would call a gaming laptop that could run any given Steam game on high settings well.

-edit #2-

Just to make things clear, I also believe the iPad is a pretty bad deal.

  • lol no multitasking
  • no widescreen
  • no flash
  • $130 extra for 3G plus a monthly charge when you're likely to never even use the 3G
  • Can't do half the things a netbook can do
  • No external memory or USB
  • no HD output
  • no streaming from/to other PC's, Macs, or iTunes

It's sad because it had so much potential just yesterday and then they announce that.  I don't even care that it's just a suped up iPhone, if it fixed those above things I would probably love it and want one.  I could totally see myself sitting on the couch enjoying the internet on that.

Yeah after some time they'll launch an "iPad with multitasking" and Apple fanboys will go "omg, multitasking!!!"

Regardless...even if this thing costed $1000.00 people are loyal to Apple. They will get it not because they need it but because they love Apple.

Mac marketshare seems to suggest that Apple in itself isn't enough of a reason for the consumers to buy a product. The reason why the iPhone/iPod were so successful was because there was a huge market for these devices before they came out.

The iPad? Not so much.

well i am planning to buy one, but i really dno if i should straight away or wait, how long do u guys think it would take b4 they released a new gen of ipad?

@NJ5

I want one as a laptop alternative for photos, movies, the apps, itunes and doing some schoolwork on with iwork, I have a really good gaming pc and i though the ipad could really compliment that, i like the look of the ebooks on it, and the tablet design REALLY interests me.
