Which may lead some of you to question how do I even have Mass Effect. Well funny story. Last Thursday I was at K-Mart shopping for a memory card and saw it sitting in the case. I thought “weird, I didn’t know Mass Effect was even out yet”. I had a pretty lazy, lonely weekend ahead (I was off from work this week as well) so I figured what the hell. When the man at the counter rang me up, I noticed this label.

I probably should have said something, but I didn’t. It was a very rare instance of incompetence in the retail world working in my favor, and like hell if I was going to let me conscience screw that up. Anyways, since this is a rare instance where I got a game a good time before it actually came out, I’m going to try and make a video review for it and hopefully have it finished before next Sunday. In the meantime if you have any specific questions about Mass Effect I can try and answer them. Just thought I’d share.

 Possibly, but I want to replay the game on easy to get more footage for the review and try some things. Also I need to reinstall some editing software on my computer. That and I do have to work tomorrow, and I'm really lazy. So it'll have to wait. =P

Besides, I want to take some time to reflect anyways and think about what I'm going to say. 

Story; I've heard its badass, confirm/deny?

Supposedly the sex of your character makes a difference on how people react towards you and how the game plays out. Have you noticed anything to this effect?

 Badass certainly isn't the word I'd use to describe it. Starts off really slow. After the opening world theres lots of exposition and explaining. Things tend to pick-up after the lengthy set-up when you finally get command of your own ship.

As for gender effecting the game. I've only played it through once so I can't be sure, but other than limiting your 
possible romantic interests, I'm not sure where else it would come into play. When I replay I'll be sure to look out
for any differences. 

How long did it take you to beat it?
How are the graphics and are there any framerate problems or anything like that?

 My last save before the final boss was just over 25 hours. I was playing on Veteran so I died a lot, so between all the reloads from dying and trying other things, as well as one glitch that cost me two hours of progress I probably spent closer to 30 on my first playthrough. I spent a lot of time doing almost every sidequest I could find, and I had Maxed my level and money by the end of the game.

Graphics are fine. Some very nice alien designs, planets you visit are less insipired than I would have liked though.

Framrate tends to drop on occasions with a lot of action, or on a few planets with blizzards are going on, usually pretty minor, but it does happen. There's an issue with textures loading in late on characters. Happens a lot during dialogue and cutscenes, mostly when the camera cuts.
