Forums - Gaming Discussion - FF13 voted the best game of all time by Famitsu readers

lol Older games are just terrible by today's standard.
This list shows that Japanese people are very honest, unlike western old trolls who think old games are still good today.
Seriously, who can enjoy the super mario bros 1 today?
Recently I played some SNES games that were popular on virtual console and they were so boring compared to recent games. I also played some popular PS1 games and they were just terrible.
Most recent games are far better than old good games.
The fact you enjoyed old games IN THAT OLD ERA does not mean those games are as good as recent games.
And bayonetta and super mario bros wii, which got 40 of 40 in Famitsu, are not included in this list. JP gamers do not vote for games which got high scores but in fact are not so good.

I played SMB1 like... a couple weeks ago... it still holds up fine.  The mechanics still hold up being some of the tightest to date in a platformer, and it's still got some of the best level designs i've seen in a platformer.

I actually thought it wouldn't hold up... not to games today, but to games like SMB3 and SMBW... but when playing it, you really don't miss suits or any of that other stuff.

You are entitled to your opinion, but it is just that, its your opinion and nothing more!  Alot of ps1 games do not hold up well I will give you that.   What is new today will be crap to the young of tommorow, and you will be on the message boards telling some kid how great the games were back in 2010 and the kids will just laugh at you and say "You have to use your hands to play, that's like a babies toy"  It happened in Back to the Future 2 and it will hapen to you no1goes!

Wait, there wasn't an article the other day about the game beimg #2 of the year in japan?

This list is the worst ever! EVER!

I promise from now to never complain about any other list of "best games ever".
They'll all be better than that one!

all a matter of opinion.

This list isn't made by professionals in the area, it's made by people, whos perception of what is a great video game changes rapidly with the years.

It even happens here on this site, recent games are held in the highest regard and most old games aren't even considered, and those who consider old games to be better than recent ones, are labeled "nostalgic".

But, even if it is made mostly of recent games, one has to wonder why not the inclusion of the latets Zelda's, Mario's, SSBB, MK, Pokemon and many others heavy hitters in japan. Probably this list isn't as skewed to modern games as it seems at first, even though personaly I wouldn't put any of those in a top greatest games ever.

well the sales speak for them self , can't you that FFXIII sold as much as DQIX... oh it didn't?

well it's obvious that the "readers" that voted are not the majority.

If Fami had some sort of voting system on the systems wifi and the owners had the multiple choice I really do wonder how much DQIX would own.
