True there aren't many exclusive games on the 360 that have sold 5 million plus, only three that I can think of right off the top of my head. But what I don't understand is why the huge difference between the way GoW sold versus say Uncharted 2 and more closely Killzone 2. All three games were praised for their graphics, had amazing reviews and were exclusives. So whats the big difference between them? If you look at a lot of 360 exclusives like L4D and ME they have PC counterparts. I think if those didn't exist you would see a lot of these games selling around 5 million too. Although thats completely speculation on my part. Just to clarify I'm not saying that Uncharted is a disappointment I'm just asking why didn't its sales explode? I'm especially baffled about Killzone 2, I expected it to have amazing legs and to do GoW numbers. @XXain So do you think they will get better results if they turn back to their original fanbase and start making the games they want? @warmachine CGI said everything I was going to. Plus GoW was not a launch title. It was advertised pretty well though. |
There are only 3 exclusive XBox360 games that have sold more than 5 million. One of them is Halo 3, and it is a phenomenon. The other 2 games are Gears of War and Gears of War 2. And that's been another phenomenal series.
Most exclusive games on the XBox360 and PS3 don't sell anywhere near that well. By most people's measurements, Left 4 Dead 1/2 and Mass Effect on the XBox360 must also have disappointing sales.
What's the difference between the mega sellers? XBox360 caught a break with Gears of War. Its a huge franchise now. It's a quality game. It appeals to tons of people. But it's absolute BS that exclusive games on the PS3 don't sell. Seriously people, check the charts.
Take out Halo and Gears of War, and the XBox360 list doesn't look so hot anymore. Microsoft had a huge hit on their hands with those games. It has nothing to do with being on the XBox360 vs the PS3. It has everything to do with making an excellent game that catches on with fans.
You make it sound like it's so easy to do. Microsoft did it, why can't Sony? But it's not easy to do, otherwise Fable 2, Forza 2, Left 4 Dead 2/3, and Mass Effect would have all sold 5+ million. But none of them broke the 5 million mark. Only 1 broke 4 million, 1 broke 3 million, and Mass Effect is just above 2 million.
