Thats the thing though. I wasn't into those throw the paper in the trashcan type games till I got an iphone. They are fun to just pick up and play for about 5 mins or so and put down. The system also has games that you can invest some serious time into and get great satisfaction. To me its not clogged just varied for everyones needs. I think it works perfectly for everyone thats why its such a success. |
All games are fun to a point. My point was that, when the games can consist of something as menial and simple as throwing a piece of paper into a can, it opens up potential for thousands of different games each with their own little idiosyncrasies. Now, yes, that's a good thing. That's a great thing. However, when you then go in and try to make something more intricate, you can easily get shot down because the variety is just so huge that whatever the consumer wants, already exists. They wanted Doom, it's there. They wanted Doom in third person, it's there. Doom in 2D, there. ReverseDoom, there. Doom in watercolors, there. Doom point and click adventure, Doom coloring book.
When you have a market who already has anything they want tailored to their needs, why even try to make something more? Why make Doom 4, when DoomTouch is good enough? That's not a complaint, it's what the market looks like.
