Well, step one of my idea to move to NZ, is to first visit and see if it's a place I want to live. So, on May 1st, I will head to Auckland and spend two weeks.

Any idea where I should visit for fun?

In addition to fun, I plan to:

• Look for a job
• Look at housing
• Checkout the local shops that someone who lived in country would go to for prices (grocery store, mall, etc)
• See what I think of the food

Any suggestions on what else I should worry about with respect to living there?

Sheep. Be really, REALLY aware of the sheep. And your proximity to the demon-infested hell that is Australia.

bugs, temperature.. can you handle the hot, hot summers? find out about things like rainfall and max/min temps throughout the year and stuff.

also, health service - whats it like?

As for temp, it's very mild compared to what I am used to (both sides). It is colder right now outside then it ever gets in NZ. Wind chill of -20F (-29C) today. And in the summer in Texas where I grew up, it would get over 100F (38C) for months.

OT: You should try finding the Temple of Doom there. Apparently, it's a great place to live and harbors a plethora of child labor to help you dig for Shiva Stones!!! But watch out for the bridge and Harrison Ford... I shall say no more.
