Forums - PC Discussion - Steam Community LOVE Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC & the PC Beta!

I think they're unlocked from the start for the Limited Edition buyers while others have to level up and earn them the normal way.

^^ Correct, the limited edition just grants early unlocks, everyone can unlock them though.

Also, if you are a battlefield veteran you get a few small other things unclocked instantly.

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition delivers six special customizations early to give players a day one advantage in multiplayer matches. Four vehicle warfare unlocks will immediately enhance the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 best-in-class online vehicle warfare experience, delivering extra firepower, radar, and armor for the vehicles. Additionally, the tracer dart attaches to any enemy vehicle and allows RPG-toting teammates to track, lock on, and destroy their adversary. Seasoned veterans of Battlefield 1943™ will be able to immediately re-acquaint themselves with two classic and highly powerful weapons, the M1A1 submachine gun and the M1911 pistol.

The full list of six unlocks are as follows:

Four vehicle warfare unlocks

  • Improved Vehicle Armor – An up-armor package is mounted on all vehicle types, decreasing the effect of both explosive and penetrating warheads, significantly improving vehicle survivability.
  • Supreme Vehicle Firepower – Additional weapon packages are mounted for the driver of all armored vehicles, greatly expanding the range of targets the vehicle can successfully engage and destroy.
  • Vehicle Motion Sensor – Use this electronics warfare package to locate enemy units in direct proximity to the vehicle.
  • Tracer Dart Pistol – This magnetic dart attaches to any vehicle surface, allowing squad members to track, lock on, and fire rockets onto moving targets even beyond line of sight.

Two classic Battlefield 1943 weapons

  • M1A1 Submachine Gun – Reliable but heavy this classic weapon is a powerful force in the hands of any Battlefield veteran.
  • M1911 Pistol – Highly customized M1911 are favored for its dependability and the power of its large .45 caliber round.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available on March 2, 2010 in North America for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the PC. The game will be available on March 5, 2010 in Europe.

* The Limited Edition will be sold while supplies last. So reserve your copy now!

Battlefield veteran, isn't that about going to the website and registering cd-keys of prior Battlefield games? I did that for those unlocks in Bad Company 1 so I guess I can get something for Bad Company 2.

Can't get a key. :(

For PC games yes (you also needed to have played online with those games at least once).  For console games you just need link your PSN/Gamertag to your account and play the console games online.

It is a bit buggy though with only certain games registering correctly and others needing be done manually by sending a e-mail about it, 1943 is meant to be automatic but isn't, hoping they fix that.

The Veteran instant unlocks are : Ammo box for assault, Medkit and Defib for Medic, Repair tool for engineer and Motion Sensor for Recon.

Is there any difference between lv 1 Veterans and lv 2?

Okay, I've played this a couple of days now and what absolutely sucks is that this game runs so bad even on a good PC. Even if I put it to low quality on everything and run in 1280x800 res, I still get an average framerate of only 25-30, which often drops down to 20! The game is so CPU demanding it's crazy. My CPU is a Athlon X2 6000+ and that's the big bottleneck, but it's the same with Core 2 Duos and even people with Core i 7s have bad framerates, which hopefully means that the beta is terribly badly optimized and the final product will be a lot better.

Here's a screen with max settings 1920x1200 (but without AA or AF) that I normally play in almost all games. 17 frames per second despite there being no action on the screen. Unplayable.

It's an awesome game though, I'll return with my overall impressions here or elsewhere (what's the main BC2 thread?).

Try a lower resolution and run it in a window.

I never heard that windowed mode runs a game faster but I'll try! Can't run lower than 1280x800 though cos that's the lowest 16:10 option in the settings.

Just played the ps3 beta and was pleasnatly suprised....i like the kz2 style running...make you feel like theres a weight behind the gun

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

If a low resolution game is stretched to fit a larger monitor then it will look ugly. If you run it in a window it isn't stretched and looks fine. Windowed mode make low resolutions more appealing.
