The metacritic for this is amazing for a third party wii game that isn't a sports or music title. Is it really that good?

THere are so few reviews registered in Metacritic for this game. Obviously theres a bunch, but a good chunk of these posted arent on the Meta score. TvC has more than double NMH2 reviews (30 to 14)

Yeah it is quite disturbing, there are 3 100 scores and one 70 that hasn't been posted to NMH2's meta so far. It should end up above 88 though regardless what happens in the long run.
