I bought it. I played it years ago, but could easily play it again.

Partly because of taxes, I'm sure. The other part is... because European gamers are willing to pay more, I guess. If we weren't, they would have to drop prices.

The biggest VAT in an European country is 25%, not over 40%. Before they introduced the euro and pound on Steam, to the price was added a VAT that differed from country to country. Without the VAT the prices were basically the same, with some small exceptions. Now we Europeans would have to pay over 40% more on the majority of games available on Steam. Personally I only buy games that are at discount(under 10euro) or priced fairly(within 20% of the USA price) in Europe.
We always pay more, on just about everything. Computer parts, games, whatever. I'm not really all that shocked at paying more for games on Steam. I look at individual prices and try to see if they are priced within what I'm willing to pay for a game. 2€ is definitely peanuts for a game as great as Psychonauts.

Yeah... the weak pound and high competition between UK stores makes it great to import games from the UK.
In fact I have barely bought any games at non-UK stores this gen.

Congratulations on ownership of your very first game.
I'll be picking this up later today.

Europeans have always paid the same, 50 euros. It has always been like that for decades (before the euro it was around that in other currencies). We aren't paying more or less.
This bitching of prices only came because the euro is now stronger than the US dollar, and some people stupidly think it gives them the right to complain about it. Come on, a few years ago the US dollar was STRONGER than the euro, and we didn't see any american complain about it. So why does it matter that some people from across the globe have to do with us?
Why don't you complain that Nigerians only have to pay like 1 cent for meat, while we pay dozens of times more for it?!
