Afraid not, all the reports coming out of Japan say that it wasn't that big of demand, and preliminary data is as ioi put it:

So I need actual data (numbers) before I can believe you (one store is not enough to make a projection, especially for hardware)

yea PS3 might outsell Wii but it's gonna be mostly because of DW6. I predict 35k PS3 sales, the Wii is gonna be awfully close to that also.

well whatever the reports may be, a site has reported it sold 36K + some retailers have it sold out

all such links are on the preliminary data comments bit..

Now if you want to be pessimistic then fine....

and as for the reports, I think if they expected a sell out, anyone would be disappointed with the Ps3 right now....

36K is about what the Wii sold last week, so its possible but with that closeness i'm going to need actual figures, you don't think everyone would be screaming about how the PS3 outsold the Wii if it was certain?

@Avinash: Yes, but it's 36k just for 40GB in one day. But 60GB version also sold some copies in that week. So it obviously will be more than 40k, 50k is also possible imo.
It of course isn't confirmed that it is more than Wii becouse we don't have many Wii's have been sold but I highly doubt that Wii has a chance this week.
