A) The Candian government, believe it or not is less corrupt then the US government. I know it seems odd considering all your recent corruption problems... but in the US, such a healthcare plan would likely turn out to be a way to pay back campaign contributions more then anything else due to the way our congressmen run for office.
B) There is a debate on if it works in Canada. There are a number of things our "broken" healthcare system due much better then Canda does... and when it comes to the factors that decide if healthcare treatment is working... the US is up there with any other country. US healthcare has three main flaws when it comes to numbers.
1) Cost.
2) Average lifespan rate, which isn't actually a indication of healthcare. For example we have a higher murder rate then most other countries... as well as a higher rate of obesity then most modern countries. You can have better medical treatment then another developed nation... if all your people don't take care of their bodies it's not going to matter.
3) Infant mortality rate. The US counts it different then other countries. In the US, any baby that's born and dies counts for Infant Mortality. In all other countries a baby needs to be born a certain size or weight to be considered "a baby".
In reality the only issue the US healthcare system has is cost. Even those without insurance tend to get really good care.

As a Canadian I can say that our healthcare system is only "Awsome" if you never have to use it ... Emergency care (especially minor emergency care) is entirely adequate, but primary care and more advanced treatment in Canada is a joke.
It’s nearly impossible to get a family doctor in many markets in Canada being that it pays so poorly, and (about) the only people who stay in it for long periods of time are the rare person who loves the job and those who have no other options. This means that there are millions of people who’s only option when they become ill or have a minor injury (or developing health concern) is to wait for 4 to 8 hours at a walk in clinic with a high likelihood of being misdiagnosed by the doctor they finally see.
Then there is surgical care where our equipment is outdated, our facilities are falling apart (and seem remarkably dirty), our nurses are overworked, our best doctors have left for the United States, and you have long waiting lists to get access to the care you need; with many people dying because the access to healthcare is so poor.
Before Barack Obama began his move towards healthcare reform it was very well known that there was greater support for healthcare reform within Canada than there is in the United States primarily because everyone acknowledges how poor things are in Canada. The reason we don’t see any move towards healthcare reform in Canada is because of how ideologically divided Canadians are, and how divisive of a political issue it has become. The best healthcare systems in the world (which Canada isn’t one of) all have some level of public and private care; and you will never hear support for increasing private care in the healthcare system outside of Alberta.

I'm going to have to disagree. My family has been dependent on the Health Care system especially for my sister who suffered with Heart problems for years. I know we would be in a very different financial space if we didn't have this health care system. And what about France don't they have a wonderful system?
Alas I may be a little biased as Im going off of information about other systems that I got from Michael Moore

That's going to be your problem there... Michael Moore has pretty much no actual credibility.
