Forums - Gaming Discussion - Dice: EA wants B:BC2 to OVERTHROW MW2 As the king of online FPS!!

so NO-ONE here played the beta?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I enjoyed the Beta for this game a lot more than I enjoyed Modern Warfare 2, so I won't be surprised if this game ends up being better.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

Kylie, who already posted did.

I did, but I never played a CoD game so it's not my place to compare. However I can guarantee you guys that it will be one of, if not the, best multiplayer experience. Single player it doesn't seem like they're copying MW. The trailer doesn't give enough info, but hopefully they'll have Uncharted 2 style dialogue during gameplay. However, I honesty don't give a shit about BC1's SP.

As for DICE and PR, if you read this and watch the GTTV interview, you can see that they are very humble.

I've played the BBC2 beta quite a bit and I think it will be the best of the genre. It is very different game than MW2. In my opinion it is a much better game than MW2. All of the environment is interactive, cars, tanks, trucks, atvs, motorcycles, etc, and the environment is completely destructible. You can pick different classes like sniper or mechanic and a few others, and each of those classes has different attributes and weapons which you can level up. When people play this for the first time they will be in awe. It is a game changer, and it is so far ahead of the curve with what it is doing, it's unlikely that anyone will be able to compete with it for a long time. I'm not saying it will dominate the market in sales like MW2, but it will be the best game out there.

Fuck... I'm dead!

Well if its lame and boring like the first one it won't. The beta was the biggest waste of space on my HDD then MAG was.

KZ2 already beats MW2 in quality, so I wouldn´t be surprised If BFBC2 is also better.

just because you say it's better in quality doesn't mean it is. No one can tell you a certain game is better in quality than another.

but we can say that a lot more people would agree that MF2 is the better fps, than Killzone, BF, etc.

Personally, i think BF requires more skill but MF2 is more fun and has more depth in it's multiplayer than every other fps this gen combined.

Not gonna happen. The game isn't casual enough for the masses.

In terms of quality, that depends on how much variety/features they put into it.

They're also two completely different types of games.

Its pretty evident from the path Battlefiend has gone that they're trying to take on games like Modern Warfare and Halo. Which I don't see why they are doing so. They had developed quite a good reputation as being one of the best online games out there, yet now they're trying to turn their game into a 'Single Player with multiplayer' game. And I feel a lot of people are going to be turned off by that, as most people who played Battlefield 1942-Battlefield 2 played it primarily BECAUSE it was a multiplayer only game.

I could be wrong and this move to incorporate a single player campaign could just add to their sales. But especially for me and all my friends who played Battlefield 1942/Desert Storm/Vietnam/Battlefield 2 religiously, we don't really have any interest in these newer games. Personally, they look like a blatant attempt to be like Modern Warfare, just using the existing Battlefield gameplay. And in the end, I fear the single player will just end up feeling like 'Multiplayer lite' or 'String of planned events and cinematics with a few gameplay objectives'. And this is the exact opposite of what made Battlefield unique and fun....the ability to go anywhere on the map and do anything to win in an environment of up to 64 people.

It is still a multiplayer fronted game.  The game releases in little over month and they only revealed the first bit of info on single player a few days ago.

Yes, but have you been noticing, their hyping for the game has been on the Single Player campaign.  Which has quite a few similarities to its Console FPS counterparts.  And they take every chance they can get to keep bringing up 'we're trying to balance the gameplay between the single play and multiplayer experience, trying to encourage people to play both'.  Tht's all fine and good...as long as there's a reason to.  But the problem is, the first Battlefield games established themselves as Multiplayer games above all else.  And now its like they're trying to peddle back and tack on a single player experience because console FPS with single player campaigns are selling well.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I hate stories like this. Makes the entire industry sound retarded.

Just make a fucking good game...and if its really good, it will have a chance of overthrowing other leading games. Simple as that. Wishing it becomes the FPS king won';t make it happen.

If you saw the VGA's, you'll know that is actually the reality

I think EA needs something now, the company went from a money whore tfocussing more on making very good games & look where that got them!

Like they have nothing to gain form this statement, and everythign to lose.

COD:MW1 was so great cause it came out of nowhere. No one at IW was saying tha tthey will try to be the Halo killer at the time. The game came out and was something no one expected.

Dice is just putting themselves in a fight which they most likely won't win...

Yep. I'll go with this.

They are talking about sales, not quality.

Quality is subjective but sales are definitive.

Just like The Conduit was going to be the Nintendo's Halo, uh?
