Attach rate doesn't pay the bills.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Attach rate doesn't mean squat save for PR. You don't get one dollar/yen/pound/euro/etc. more from a million selling game, or even one less, if you sell a million for a system with 6 million sold or 60 million (revenues are different because of game prices).

That's why attach rate doesn't matter.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN

With MH3, fine he can be disappointed

but with DQ9, what, WHAT!!!!! How dare he :( :(

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I don't really get it.

Dragon Quest is like the highest selling DQ in Japan but it wasn't good enough.
MH3 is the biggest console game except for FF but it isn't good enough.
FFXIII doesn't sell 2 million, but he's got nothing to say about that.
Then he says the Wii download service is for children and the elderly.........
After that, he says DSi LL is for the baby boomers, but I thought Japanese birth rates were stagnant, if not dropping as of late....
And the icing on the cake, the Wii can only sell "un-gamelike games"? So I'm guessin I breathe un-air like air, and Nintendo makes un-moneylike money.

I REALLY don't get it.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

It's Pachter's Japanese counterpart!

He saved the best for last, when he started talking about "game-like games."

When is a game un-game-like?

When it has the words "Mario", "Wii", "Dragon" and/or "Monster" in it?
