I'm manually tallying any other fighting series based on posts that aren't in the original six. I tallied your vote for Super Smash Bros.

Smash Bros. owns all series!

Gaming make me feel GOOD!

Virtual Fighter with 2 votes and Tekken with 6... this thread makes me sad.

VF5 is the deepest and most well balanced fighter I have ever experienced. It has always been a underrated series, which is a shame.

I have never understood all the love Tekken gets. A poor mans VF in every aspect in my opinion, but to each their own.

To be honest I've never played a Virtua Fighter. I plan to pick up VF5 one of these days.

You can find VF5 for like 20 bucks at any gamestop, totally worth the investment. I have to warn you the learning curve is steep, VF has never been and never will be a pick up and play fighting game. The single player is also pretty average/boring. If you take it online prepare to be dominated until you have figured things out. With all that said the game is so deep and rewarding when you start to master it, worth the effort if fighters are your kind of thing.

I like deep fighters. If you had to compare VF to any other fighter, which would it most resemble?

Virtua Fighter doesn't really resemble anything. It's very unique. Every character has a unique fighting style, and they spend a lot of time balancing each game as best as they can, only adding 2 new characters per game. Each character is also grounded very closely to reality, and each resembles a real world fighting style.

I suppose it would be closest to Dead or Alive, but it's a far superior series to it.

I'm interested in getting into the VF series now. Thanks for explaining it a bit to me. I assume VF5 would be a good place to start?

Yeah. VF 5 will work just fine.

I like tekken because it really really is great to play while your drunk xD

tekken and dead or alive are two of my favorite fighting franchises.

Soul Calbur lost its Edge (Soul Edge. Hah!) after part 2. Otherwise, it'd be my pic. Tekken lost it after part 3. Virtua Fighter has always bored me to tears.

Street Fighter got it right with part two. It still gets my blood pumping. Can't wait for Super Street Fighter 4!

SoulCalibur (DreamCast) >>>>>>>>>> Everything else

Soul Caliber imo, but Tekken is the best fighter with out weapons.

The only Tekken I've ever played was Tekken 6, and I liked it. Does that mean I would really like Tekken 5?

I think would enjoy Tekken 5. Better than 6, IMO.
Too bad you missed the series' peak, which is Tekken 3 on the PS.

the absense of smash bros there is sad :(
