Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MS just spent big bucks on ME2

This game is going to be huge. I saw at least 6 commercials tonight during both NFL games, and they were not short at all. Besides the Superbowl and maybe American Idol, those are the most expensive commercials out there.

Maybe it's part of the agreement for the transfer of publishing rights

For those who haven't seen it:

Definitely EA. Good commercial though, I think it's impossible for me to want a game more than this

Fuck... I'm dead!

it was EA.

This thing has GOTY written all over it...I think the Week 1 numbers are going to stun us all!

Its EA if it was paid by MS we would have seen this at the end....

EDIT*

This is a good example if MS paid for the advert.

Agreed EA used their ad budget and it probably will end up being well spent considering the lucky timing with the game situation. Also if MS would have paid for that beyond them requiring just the Xbox jump in screen they probably would have thrown in the console picture that says starting at $199 (like when they were advertising ODST, Forza 3, etc).
Another possibility is that they did pay partially pay or subsidize the ad, but the visuals were taken from the PC version and they vary enough that therefore if would be false advertising to throw in the 360 jump in screen.

Just a note if you go to www.xbox.com and watch the "launch trailer" that is on the home page, it also does not show the Xbox sequence at the end which is unusual for any game trailers on the xbox site.

Whoever spent the money, it must have cost a fortune for that time slot. They bought the entire segment of a championship tied football game. I think MS spent the money, as part of the exclusivity agreement.

Spend a million dollars and not even put xbox 360 jump in at the end like they always do? Riiiight.

I could be wrong on who paid for the ad, it's just my opinion.

I have seen plenty of multiplatform games with the 360 or PS3 jump at the end of the commercial, so I don't believe that tells you anything either way.

That's precisely the point people are making to you. When you see a multiplat with a 360 or PS3 logo advertisement at the end, that means Sony or Microsoft paid for it. Sony did it this summer for EA's sports lineup.

It means they paid for part of it, possibly all of it, but most likely a joint payment agreement deal. But yeah... just clearing that up. Back to you amigo...

I didn't mean pay for the advertising. I meant pay for the rights to have their logo used and have it exclusively affiliated with their console.

Same thing. Where do you think that money is going? To help pay for the advertising.

Not necessarily. It depends at what point the agreement was made, and whether it raised the original estimated costs of the game's advertising or not. If it didn't raise the costs or add more money back into advertising, then it's just pocketed money.
